Lauren Villanueva
Recruit Profile
Always a threat, great vision, shifty, team player, passionate and aggressive, coachable, strong Lax IQ, multi-sport athlete
I began playing for Nor'easter Lacrosse in 2017, and have participated in multiple clinics and college 5v5 camps. I also played for Team Connecticut in Summer 2019 at the National Lacrosse Tourney in Baltimore. I have played on the Varsity Basketball and Lacrosse team since freshmen year as a multi-sport athlete.
My first lacrosse game in sixth grade consisted of my best attempt of playing defense "like I did in basketball", and I eventually was complimented by the other team's coach on my defensive skills. I later became the leading scorer on my travel team all throughout middle school in the midfield position, scoring 55 out of the 120 goals in my eighth grade season. I am a dynamic player with a strong Lax IQ comfortable playing attack or defense if not midfield, as long as I get to play! Although being right-handed, I have consistently worked to be comfortable with my left hand as if it was my dominant. I take pride in my speed during my dodges, and skills like cutting and defensive sliding I've also used in other sports.
I am an active member in my community, and involved in many leadership roles (Admissions Council, Community Service Council, Day Student Council), and an honors student since middle school into a prep school (2020 National Spanish Honors Society). Lastly, I am a Global Leadership Scholar (GLI), which is described to "The programs mission is to develop a generation of global leaders with a genuine concern for world problems, multiple perspectives on global issues, and the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to worldwide change." Overall, I am a well-rounded, passionate student athlete.
