I moved to Connecticut February 1st. My family of seven moved cross country from Coronado, California to Weston, Connecticut after my father retired from the Navy. This move will be the sixth state I have lived in, seventeenth house, and eighth school. Being a military brat has forced me to overcome barriers and learn how to adapt to new environments. I moved to California as a freshman going from my small private school with a grade of only eighteen students to a freshman class of over three hundred. I struggled initially to the size and new teaching style which can be seen in my grades but then I started to improve. However, after only a year and a half at Coronado High school we had to move again to Weston. I saw this move as an opportunity for me to surpass not just academically but athletically. Weston High School seeing how hard it would be to transition mid year provided me with many tools and resources to make the sudden change as easy as possible. I am happy to say with this fresh start in a new environment third quarter I was able to raise my GPA to a 3.3. My lacrosse transition could not have gone better. Leaving my club team West Coast Starz I was on the lookout for a new team. A girl on my high school team recommended Gold Coast which I tried out for in March and was selected to join their team. High School try outs were next, and I am glad to say I was one of the four sophomores who made the Varsity lacrosse team. I start for the team at attack. My team had an amazing lacrosse season! We were SWC runner ups and Class S state runner ups. I was initially scared moving to a new location and not knowing anyone I decided to make this a turning point for me and I plan on keeping the momentum going.
