Recruit Profile
Strong work ethic, determined and a leader on and off the field. Coachable and athletic team player with a high lax IQ, who is a fast/quick multi-sport athlete (hockey).

I am a skilled two-way midfielder who makes smart decisions on offense and can create turnovers on defense. I feel comfortable using both hands to dodge and shoot and am not afraid to get physical when it comes to picking up a ground ball. I'm a starting midfielder on my club team and made my high school varsity team as a freshman. In my sophomore season, I played both midfield and attack for my team and was the leading scorer. I was honored as my team's Offensive MPV, was named to the All-Conference 1st team, All-Region 3rd team, and All-State Honorable Mention. As a Junior I played attack and was named team MVP, a team Captain for the upcoming year and named Conference Offensive Player of the Year, ending the regular season with 115 points. I was selected to the All-Region 2nd team and All-State 3rd team. I am definitely comfortable and willing to play the role that my team needs. Hockey is my other sport, having played since I was six. I'm a starting center and captain on my travel team. In addition to working hard at both lacrosse and hockey, three mornings a week before school I'm in the gym working on strength and conditioning.

My current weighted GPA is 4.56 with a class rank of #7 of 322. I took two AP classes as a sophomore, four AP's in my junior year and will be taking four AP's as a Senior. I am the president of a non-profit organization called Lax Gives Back, founded in 2016, which is dedicated to spreading the game of lacrosse by collecting and distributing used lacrosse gear to players and associations who otherwise might not have access to equipment.

I am a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, in which I have been selected to the leadership team for the 22-23 school year, National Math Honor Society and am also involved in Key Club, STAND and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) at my school. I am a Junior Marshal, a Freshman Orientation Leader for the incoming students at my high school, a Crosby Scholar, and I am a writer for the school newspaper.

Matthew will be a 4 year starter at Mt. Tabor High School Program. Prior to speaking about his athletic attributes it should be emphasized that is a student athlete. He understands that his opportunity to play the game he loves is directly correlated with his performance in the classroom. Any coach interested in Matthew can rest assured they won't have concerns in the classroom. The second thing that is remarkable about Matthew is that he is an excellent team mate. He helps foster a competitive culture that prioritizes winning the right way. Finally, he's a heck of an athlete. Summer select squads will put a Matthew at Mid. Ground ball machine between the restraining line solid initiator who can move a defense dodging the alley. He also found success playing attack as an excellent wing dodger. Bottom line he forces a defense to slide and he has the IQ to move the ball to the right play when facing a zone. He received All-region recognition has a sophomore and is looking to have a strong Junior year.

Matthew is a high energy midfielder with a lot of shake to his game. He is explosive between the restraining lines and a down hill dodger that gets to the cage quickly. Matthew has great field vision when on offense and is one our best defensive midfielders that can matchup against anyone on the field. Matthew is multi-sport athlete with a hockey background that shows his athleticism and toughness every time he steps on the field.

Matthew is a very coachable dynamic two-way midfielder with excellent field vision. His acceleration and shiftiness on one end of the field allow him to dodge from all points with great success, while on the other end, it gives Matthew the ability to play lockdown defense. His explosiveness between the lines and off the wing makes him an invaluable asset during faceoffs and the clearing game. Matthew also plays ice hockey, where he is a centerman showing his versatility as an athlete. Off the field, Matthew is a top-notch student academically and is involved with giving back to the lacrosse community, where he is the president of "Lax Gives Back". I look forward to seeing Matthew compete at the next level and believe he will be value-added to any school and program he attends.

Matthew is an athletic and versatile midfielder who consistently makes big plays on the face-off wing, in transition offense, in settled offense, on the EMO unit, and on the defensive side of the field. Matthew plays with a poised, confident, and competitive demeanor that allows his game to excel as the competition level increases. Matthew has always been a supportive and selfless teammate with who others enjoy playing with. However, arguably his greatest attribute is his growth mindset. Matthew has always been extremely coachable and is constantly looking for ways to improve his game and embodies a blue-collar mentality. Matthew will rise to any standard or cultural norm that is expected of him. Matthew Fangmann is a cant miss prospect for any program that alligns with his athletic and academic standards.

Matthew is an outstanding midfielder who is excellent between the lines. He makes things happen in transition. Mathew is also very effective (both offensively and defensively) when in 6 v 6. He is smart with a good lacrosse IQ. Mathew is athletic, has a great attitude and is an excellent student. He is a real pleasure to coach.
