Mavryck Starks
Recruit Profile
I strive on following through with what is asked of me on and off the field. I play hard at any position I am asked to do. Multi-sport athlete.
I started playing lacrosse when I was 11 years old. I took the next year off to continue to play football, but missed playing lacrosse. My first year of playing, my position was defensive short stick. It was a great start for me to learn how to be quick on my feet, and gave me an idea on what it took to play LSM. The next season that I played, I began learning how to use a d-pole. I believe playing as a safety in football, gave me the intensity and drive to understand how to be an all around defensive player in lacrosse. After my last game of my 14u season, I was moved up to finish the year out with the JV lacrosse team. My 9th grade year I became a starter as an LSM. My first year on Varsity, I ended the season with 18 ground balls. During my sophomore season, I had 21 ground balls, and 6 face-off wins.
Lacrosse has taught me not only what I need to do to be successful on the field, but how I need to be successful off the field through my academics and character. My current GPA is a 3.32. I volunteer in the community by mentoring children who live in a group home. I also volunteer helping my local 10u lacrosse team.
I am working daily on increasing my GPA, and improving my lacrosse game to play in college. In practice I intently listen to what my coaches are asking of me, and I strive to exceed their expectations of me.
