Megan Kelley
Recruit Profile
I have been playing lacrosse since kindergarten. I am coachable with a strong LAX IQ and good field vision. I am determined to play college lacrosse.
I began playing boy's lacrosse in kindergarten since my local team did not have a girl's team (Canon-Mac Youth Lacrosse Assn.). I stayed on that team until our league added a girl's team during 4th grade. I was the first year of girls to play in my community (with two other girls on the boy's team). I continued playing rec. league on the girl's team through 8th grade as the only dedicated attacker on our team. I led my rec. team in SOG and goals during each year (only two recorded stats).
I joined a local club/travel team during the summer after 4th grade (Intrepid Lacrosse Club, Bethel Park, PA), where I also played attacker and midfield (primarily attack). I moved to the True Lacrosse Pittsburgh 2025 State Team following 7th grade for a more aggressive and competitive experience. This club helped me focus on development of team strategy and play to supplement my ongoing focus on individual skill development. HIgher-level teammates helped me improve and excel.
I pride myself on the work I have done over the last two years to improve my speed, footwork, and agility to improve my overall game. I also focus on mastering different types of shots - shots, dodges, fakes, angles, and moves to improve my scoring chances! I work daily with my dad in the backyard, at the local turf field, or at the local indoor baseball facility with my folding net and hardwall rebounder. We hit the gym 3-4 times per week for strength and stamina.
I am leaving my public school district with a 4.0 GPA to attend a private Catholic school near Pittsburgh with a strong lacrosse program that offers me more support in obtaining my college goals. Academics are more focused, individual attention is provided, and charity and service thrive! I really enjoy volunteering and participating in my community and this option provides me a better balance by adding that to my curriculum.
My new high school coach encourages us to play another sport for health and conditioning of other muscle groups, so I intend on playing volleyball as a freshman. I also have a black belt in Tang Soo Do Karate, play piano, and am a member of the National Junior Honor Society. My freshman schedule includes all honors-level classes, as well as spiritual wellness classes (Catholic school). to provide balance and mental clarity.
