I have had the pleasure of watching Miikka's inspiring growth within the sport over the years. She was still in middle school the first time I coached her. Her drive, maturity, positivity and aggressiveness to every ball made her a standout player that everyone was drawn to. I recently had the opportunity to coach her as she represented Orange County at the USA Lacrosse National Tournament. Her skills on the field and LAX IQ have increased exponentially. To think she's only entering her sophomore year of HS says a lot about how much more Miikka has to offer the lacrosse world! Anyone who has the chance to coach or play with Miikka will echo this experience. She is one of kind and the impact she has on a team is undeniable. I can only hope that I get to coach her again!
