Director of Athletics Jessica Mushel has announced the promotion of Mike Lowell to the Head Women's Lacrosse coach position for the 2019-20 academic year.

Mushel stated "I am very excited that Mike will be joining our staff full time. He brings a level of professionalism, commitment and insight that will help our students improve both as athletes as well as individuals. Coach Mike is going to do wonderful things for our women's lacrosse program and I am excited to see where it goes."

Lowell spent five seasons as the assistant coach in the women's lacrosse program, primarily working with the goalkeepers and assisting in practice and game planning, before being named the interim head coach for the 2019 season.

Said Lowell, "First and foremost a big thank you to Dr. Jason Adsit and our director of athletics Jessica Mushel for this opportunity to continue being part of the Mount staff and continue building our women's lacrosse program. This transition has been well received by the team and the young women of our program worked very hard last year to build on the vision that we have for our Women's Lacrosse Program. Our program has a wonderful group of incoming freshman who have embraced that vision and are ready to meet our academic expectations as well as our athletic expectations. I look forward to watching them all be successful in the classroom and on the athletic field. To our alumni that have gone through our program and have graduated, I look forward to watching you succeed in your careers and thank you for making me a better coach."

Over the course of his five years as an assistant in Newburgh, the Mount posted 36 victories, including 22 against Skyline Conference rivals. The Knights have appeared in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament in four of his five seasons, including in 2017 when the Mount hosted and won a game in the event for the first time in program history.
