Reed Bateman
Recruit Profile
I am a passionate lacrosse player and take great pride in my defensive abilities. I have a great lacrosse IQ and I am very coachable. I take my role as a goalie very seriously and enjoy the pressure that comes with the position. I am a vocal leader on the field and my teammates know they can count on me to make the big save when the game is on the line. I am excited to take my game to the next level in college and hope to find a program that is a good fit for me both academically and athletically, where I can compete for a starting spot and help my team win a conference championship.
I decided in third grade I was going to be a goalie. Mentally, that's how I am wired. I love field. I love box. I enjoy water polo. Always in the goal. I love the adrenaline and the pressure to come through for my team. I was named All-Tournament Goalie for water polo Fall 2021, have received a Scholar Athlete award, and started Varsity for 2022 spring HS lax season. I received my varsity letter for wrestling as a Freshman. Outside of sports and school, I dedicate time weekly to serve meals through a Backdoor Ministry with my grandma. I know my customers by name and sincerely look forward to seeing them on Tuesday afternoons. I work as a lifeguard, mowing lawns and pet/house sitting. I am in the middle of 2 brothers, both competitive swimmers. My dad was a Syracuse HW wrestler and my mom a Broadway dancer. Time with my family, friends and my German Shepherd Roxy is time well spent. I am looking for a program that embraces me athletically and academically, where I can continue to grow and develop as an athlete, student, and person as a whole.

Reed is a very hardworking individual. He played for me on the 2023 Red team with Resolute. Reed is very vocal in cage and is a great teammate. He is always positive and receptive to coaching. He is a big kid and moves well in the goal. His work ethic will be his biggest asset going forward for his senior season and into college.

Reed is an outstanding young man, complete team player, solid student and a joy to coach. He won our starting job last season and played behind a very inexperienced defense, maintaining a 55% save percentage despite a seeing a large number of quality shots. Our schedule has been ranked top 10 most difficult in the state according to Laxnumbers, so he’s seen some of the best shooters in Ohio. Reed’s demeanor is always solid and he has a short memory, quickly moving on to the next shot. We won some one goal games where he was the difference, and also had a few close losses that would have been much worse had he not stood on his head. He’s a big, lanky kid who covers a lot of the cage and is a vocal leader on defense. We expect a lot from Reed in his senior season and believe he has all the physical and mental tools to play at the next level.
