Ron Garling

Profile
Ron Garling begins his third year as a men's lacrosse assistant coach in 2019-20.

Garling was promoted to Associate Head Coach in July 2019 after helping the Cavaliers claim the University's first National Championship.

Despite spending much of his playing and coaching career on the offensive side of the pitch, Garling has led one of the nation's top defensive units since coming to Cabrini. Led by a quartet of USILA All-America defenders, including IMLCA National Defensive Player of the Year Tommy DeLuca, in 2019, the Blue and White ranked fifth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing just 6.83 goals per game, while its.835 man-down percentage ranked third.

Garling returned to Cabrini after five years as an assistant coach at High Point University. Garling was an integral part of the Panthers’ growth over the program’s first five years. High Point amassed 35 wins through its first five seasons and made three postseason appearances.

Garling helped lead the Panthers to the 2015 Southern Conference championship and the 2015 NCAA Tournament in the program’s third year.

Prior to his time at High Point, Garling served as the offensive coordinator for two seasons at Lafayette College, where he coached Lafayette’s all-time leading scorer, Tom Perini.

Garling began his coaching career in 2010 as an assistant to head coach Steve Colfer. With Garling on the Blue and White sideline, the Cavaliers went 15-4, including a 12 game win streak, before winning the 2010 CSAC championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Garling graduated from Drexel University in 2010 with a degree in sports management. From 2006-09, the Swarthmore, PA product totaled 47 career points, scoring 33 goals and recording 14 assists.
