Rosamaria Riccobono ’17 returned to Eastern in the fall of 2019 as assistant women’s lacrosse coach under head coach Christine Hutchison.

A former four-year member of the Eastern women’s lacrosse program under Hutchison from 2014 through 2017, Riccobono enjoyed a successful two-year head women’s lacrosse coaching debut at Division III Elms College, where the Queens, NY native led the Blazers to an overall record of 20-17, 11-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). In her rookie season, Riccobono directed the program to a perfect 7-0 record in the NECC, the program’s first NECC playoff championship, and a berth in the NCAA tournament. For her efforts, she was honored as the 2018 NECC Coach-of-the-Year.

Under Riccobono’s leadership in two years, Elms featured 17 All-NECC selections (seven of them first-teamers), the NECC Senior Female Athlete-of-the-Year in 2019, the NECC Player-of-the-Year in 2018, the institution’s Female Athlete-of-the-Year in 2019, and the institution’s sophomore Athlete-of-the-Year in 2018. In addition, 17 of Riccobono’s players achieved NECC All-Academic status, and 12 qualified as IWLCA All-Academic and IWLCA honor roll selections.

Prior to appointment at Elms, Riccobono served as assistant women’s lacrosse coach at SUNY Purchase College in the fall of 2017.

At Eastern, Riccobono appeared in 29 matches with 16 starts, starting all 14 matches in which she appeared as a freshman defender. She was a strong defender who was a senior member of the undefeated Little East Conference regular-season championship team (6-0) which finished 14-5 overall.

At Eastern, Riccobono served two-year stints on the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and as president of the Eastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and as a senior, was selected as recipient of the Eastern SAAC’s Shining Star Award.

Riccobono has proudly coached for several camps and clinics. She has coached for the For Girls by Girls Soccer & Lacrosse Leadership camps for the past six years. A camp designed to build self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills for young female athletes. In addition, she has directed camps with Triology and GameBreaker Lacrosse. She has coached for the elite club Team 91 Tri-State. Currently, she coaches for lacrosse club Central Lacrosse located in Central, Massachusetts. She is also an active youth and high school girl's lacrosse official.

Her lacrosse career began at Saint Francis Preparatory High School in her hometown. Riccobono was a three-year varsity starter, two-time captain and earned the program’s first Terrier Award.

Riccobono earned a B.S. Degree in Sport and Leisure Management in May of 2017.
