Recruit Profile
Multi-sport althlete, I am in the Varsity Jazz Ensemble & Symphonic Band. Committed, aggressive, give maximum effort, play with intensity and skill, coachable, unselfish, team player, always working towards improvement.

My name is Sophia Gardea and I am in the class of 2021. I am a multi sport athlete. Playing sports has been my life since I was 5 years old when I started playing league soccer and CYO basketball. I love competition and at age 9, I was a starter on an all boys club soccer team for 2 years. It was a great experience and took me to the next level by helping me develop my speed, intensity, and skill due to the pace and physicality of playing alongside and against boys my age.

I continued playing club soccer and basketball and in Junior High I joined the co-ed Wrestling Team. Wrestling was my first individual sport and taught me discipline, determination, and the ability to work hard mentally and physically. I was introduced to Lacrosse in 7th grade at the Petaluma Youth Lacrosse River Cats league Friday Night Lights. My experience playing soccer and basketball at a competitive level gave me an advantage in lacrosse and I was able to pick up the sport very quickly. I played for River Cats for 2 years, had fun and loved the sport of lacrosse.

In high school, soccer, basketball and wrestling were all winter sports so I had to make a choice and chose basketball for my winter sport. I made the Varsity Basketball Team as a freshman and have been the starting point guard for all three years. As a freshman, I also played Varsity High School Golf. I have been playing trumpet since 5th grade and I am in my high school Varsity Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic bands.

Lacrosse is the sport I have enjoyed the most. I made the Varsity High School Lacrosse Team as a starter freshman year. I have also been playing club lacrosse for two years with 101 High School Black. I play both midfield and defense. Playing sports has taught me strength, commitment, time management, respect, and teamwork through communication and working well with others. I feel very lucky and appreciative to have been a part of many fun, supportive and successful teams.

I love being challenged and I am working toward an opportunity to be a student athlete and compete in lacrosse at the collegiate level while earning a degree in my area of study of Business Management.
