Taylor Mendoza is in his first season as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Washington and Lee.

He serves as the team's defensive coordinator and director of recruiting.

Mendoza came to W&L from Penn State University, where he has served as the director of lacrosse operations since 2017. In this role, he had a number of responsibilities including scouting and film breaking, practice planning, team marketing and recruiting and travel and team logistics.

The Nittany Lions enjoyed tremendous success since his arrival, including a Big Ten Championship and an NCAA Semifinal appearance in 2019. PSU remained in the USILA Division I Top 5 for more than 20 straight months and claimed eight All-Americans and four Premier Lacrosse League draft picks.

Prior to his time at Penn State, Mendoza enjoyed two highly-successful seasons as an assistant coach at Amherst College, helping lead the Mammoths to a 27-10 mark and two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. His work as recruiting coordinator culminated in the 2019 team reaching the NCAA Championship game for the first time in program history. He served as the defensive coordinator for the 2017 campaign, coaching a unit that produced over 10 caused turnovers per game, while the goalkeeper finished 11th nationally in saves.

Mendoza's coaching experience also includes two years as assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Skidmore College (2013-15).

Mendoza played collegiately at Cortland State, where he helped lead the Red Dragons to a 56-5 record and three conference championships. Twice he helped lead Cortland to the NCAA Semifinals, including a runner-up finish in 2012.

Mendoza graduated from Cortland State in 2013 with a bachelor of science degree in business economics.
