COVID hit every community hard, but during this time I chose not to hide in my house but continue to volunteer in the community and on the installation to help others. Every little thing we can do for each other makes a difference. Before the pool opened, I volunteered to clean the gym and weight room at the Army installation so the Soldiers and scientists that work on COVID in the labs could continue to stay healthy while they worked to find therapies and vaccines. When others on the installation were told to stay home or telecommute, the installation determined that I was part of the group of essential employees that allowed the installation to stay open and provide services for organizational missions and readiness.
