Recruit Profile
Coachable, team player with strong Lax IQ - disciplined, determined and aggressive multi-sport athlete.

My father, who grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, always played lacrosse and attended college it. For my first birthday, my uncle on my father's side gave me a lacrosse stick, and so began my lacrosse career. I genuinely never enjoyed lacrosse until seventh grade when I fell in love with rejecting small players from going to goal (I was much taller than most girls). My first year of high school, I played basketball as a starter on the freshman and JV team. Playing back-to-back games caused me to develop a lovely injury in the middle of basketball season, but I disregarded it as minor discomfort. Once basketball season ended and I began training for lacrosse season, the pain continuously intensified until I begged my mom to take me to the doctor. He pointed at my x-rays to where the separation between my growth plate and hip bone was, and warned me to stop running for at least two weeks. Lacrosse tryouts were only three weeks away. As soon as the two weeks were up, which I spent weightlifting and biking, I was extremely eager to head to the track and run. I warmed up by taking a lap around and felt perfectly fine, but then I increased my speed the slightest bit and lost an entire lacrosse season. The pain from a slow sprint forced me to lay down on the turf and stay there, unmoving. Another week went by of resting, and I felt up to attend try outs, it was a big mistake. I played for two hours before I collapsed once more onto the turf, this time with coaches and teammates watching. The freshman, JV, and even the assistant-varsity coaches swarmed around me to see if I was all right. The varsity coach, who knew of my injury, just stared at me and angrily said "why would you let yourself get this hurt." After that day I strengthened myself through PT and more, determined to play again. Now I am strong and aware of the muscles that need attention so that I will never tear or pull anything in my legs ever again. I spent my freshman season as a replacement goalie for the injured one, I couldn't be taken off of the field.
