I'm a smart, quick, gritty player who revels in doing the unsung work (ground balls, re-defending, and double-teaming). I'm a valued and reliable teammate who communicates and leads by example.
Hi! My name is Ciara “CJ” Smith. I am a member of the varsity lacrosse team at Haddonfield Memorial High School in Haddonfield, NJ. At the conclusion of this spring 2021 season, we were ranked #5 in New Jersey according to NJ.com, our season record was 18-2, and we were the New Jersey Group 1 State Champions. As a sophomore, I started every game at defense. My coaches and teammates made my team feel like a second family, and after not having a high school season last year, I loved every moment of this spring season.
In addition to my high school team, I also play with my club team, South Jersey Select Pink 2023 in Moorestown, NJ, for my sixth season with the club. I’ve learned so much from SJS’s director KC Knobloch and my coach Erika McCool.
Academically, I thrive in a challenging/accelerated environment. During my freshman and sophomore year I took all accelerated courses, as well as AP Biology my sophomore year. I have maintained an over 100 unweighted GPA in all of these classes. I also enjoy participating in school clubs and events, including student council. I have been elected as the class of 2023 student council secretary for my freshman, sophomore, and junior year.
Outside of school and sports, I have been a lector at Christ the King Catholic Church (Haddonfield, NJ) since 2018. I’ve also loved volunteering as a coach at clinics run by Haddonfield Soccer Club and Haddonfield Youth Lacrosse Club for the past two years. Finally, this summer I had a blast volunteering at Camp Invention, a national STEM Summer Program for Grades K-6.

Shane Knobloch
Ciara is a quick, solid defender, mostly known for her grit and competitiveness. She gets the most out of her ability and has been the unsung hero of our top Pink team. Great work ethic and teammate who makes the blue collar plays. An outstanding communicator as well.
Erika Hennessy
Ciara is a quick, scrappy, coachable defender. Her work ethic and footwork make it tough to beat her in one-on-one situations. Ciara's knowledge of the game makes her a great teammate on the field, whether in settled situations or in transition. Her overall athleticism gives her the edge in competition.
Mike Jackson
Ciara is an aggressive, fundamentally sound defender. She has quick feet and plays with an edge. She communicates well and is not afraid to take calculated risks in order to gain possession. She has good speed and will involve herself in transitioning the ball to offense.
