He has compiled a record of 118-130, the most victories ever by a Virginia Wesleyan men's lacrosse coach.

Just three years after a two win season, Stewart turned around the men's lacrosse program, winning 11 games in the 2008 season to earn ODAC Coach of the Year and State Coach of the Year honors. The 2008 season saw Stewart lead the Marlins to their first-ever appearance in the ODAC championship game.

The 2015 season was just as impressive for Stewart, earning another ODAC Coach of the Year honor as the Marlins went 10-6, including a program-best 7-2 in ODAC play. The second place finish in the regular season also set a new best in program history.

Stewart has shown the ability to develop high-level talent throughout his career, coaching 16 All-Americans, seven at the Division I level and eight at the Division III level. He has coached 42 All-ODAC honorees, highlighted by a program record seven honorees in 2008, 15 All-State players, and five players that were selected to the NCAA Division III Nort

Prior to his time as head coach at Virginia Wesleyan, Stewart served as an assistant coach for the nationally-ranked University of North Carolina program for three years, coaching an additional year on staff at Colorado College. His coaching career began as an assistant at Virginia Wesleyan in 1997.

Stewart coached the South team in the USILA North-South Game and currently serves on the USILA Division III All-American Committee as well as holding a position on the USILA Executive Board as one of two coaches who represent Division III.

He is also on the Division III Regional Advisory Committee and serves as Director of Marlin Lacrosse Camps at www.marlinlaxcamps.com and 757 Select Lacrosse at www.757selectlacrosse.com.

He competed at Hampden-Sydney College where he was named an All-ODAC Academic Team selection while helping the team to an NCAA Tournament berth as a senior. He graduated with a bachelor's in history in 1995.

He resides in Virginia Beach with his daughters Jane, Jill, and Julia.
