Olivia Summers
Recruit Profile
Competitive, multi-sport athlete with team-first mindset.
I began playing lacrosse in 7th grade, when I was in search of a new team sport. I have played many different sports including basketball, gymnastics and tennis, and I have incorporated the things that I learned from them in my game. However, I have definitely learned the most from lacrosse. I have learned how to work hard and keep a positive mindset and how to motivate myself and others. I have found so much passion for the game and it continues to build. I learn more about lacrosse every time I play and I am determined to work hard to grow as a player and a teammate. On the field, I am comfortable using both my left and right hands, and I use my strength to my advantage when I play position defense. When clearing the ball and covering on fast breaks, I use my speed to get through the midfield. When I play off ball defense, I focus on keeping a wide stance to cover the passing lanes and staying alert for slides. In addition to lacrosse, I play soccer in the fall and I do hurdles and the 200m in winter track.
I am a rising junior at William Penn Charter School. In my freshman and sophomore years, I received high honors and took all the advanced classes offered, including math, biology and chemistry. Junior year is the first year that AP classes are offered so I am registered to take AP biology, AP US history and AP pre-calculus. At school I also have taken part in chorus and I am a writer for the school newspaper, The Mirror.
